1 Knit 1 Chicago Kit Club: Zopfmuster Hat

Just in time for last-minute gift knitting, I have a new hat pattern coming out this month, and it's available exclusively at Knit 1 Chicago! The  Zopfmuster Hat  is designed especially for multicolored hand-dyed yarns and is knit with 1 skein of  Mountain Colors River Twist,  shown here in the Spring Creek colorway. For more pattern info, check out the Ravelry pattern page  here . The large cable motif won’t get lost even in the craziest of colorways, and it’ll keep you interested as you knit. You can make the beanie style hat as shown here, but you could also add some pattern repeats to make a slouchier version thanks to the generous yardage in River Twist. Fun fact: Zopfmuster is the German word for cable stitch! The launch party for this kit is Wednesday, December 14th 6:30 - 8:30PM at Knit 1 (3856 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60613) - please drop by to say hello! You can preorder your kit here online ; Knit 1 offers in-store pick up,...

Molten Metal Cowl

I'm so excited that fall is just around the corner - it's my favorite season, so I wanted to put out a new pattern to celebrate the arrival of September. Rather than my usual Ravelry release, however, I have partnered up with the folks at Bijou Basin Ranch to offer not just the pattern PDF for sale, but a discounted project kit so that you can get a skein of the luxurious Lhasa Wilderness yarn AND the pattern, too!   The Pattern Meet the  Molten Metal Cowl , which you can knit with just 1 skein of Lhasa Wilderness, shown here in the Mango Salsa colorway from Bijou Basin Ranch's indie dyer series. It uses two different stitch patterns (which are both written and charted) to create a fun-to-knit cowl you can knit using both variegated and semi-solid hand-dyed colorways. I love working with this soft, lustrous yarn, especially since I know that the finished project will look great for years to come - the strength of the bamboo is the perfect complement to the y...

New Pattern: Berlin Hat

Once I knew for sure that I was going to Berlin this March, I decided I should finally finish the Berlin Hat pattern, which is the companion to the Berlin Cowl , so that I could do a photo shoot for both in Berlin . The Berlin Cowl pattern now has a friend - click here to get both patterns for just $9! Tyler and I only spent two days in Berlin before heading to Cologne for H+H, so we barely scratched the surface of the city - but what we saw, we loved, and we both agreed that we'd jump at the chance to go back (if you are just wanting to see photos of the  Berlin Hat , I recommend scrolling down - because first I am going to make all of you look at some trip photos). Yup, that sign says "Wienerstrasse" - you're welcome. We stayed in a neighborhood called Kreuzberg, which was covered in graffiti (which I loved). When we'd walk around, I kept stopping to take photos of the doors which were just covered in the stuff. But it was really every...
