WIP Wednesday: Progress Aplenty + Craftsy Kits

Since I was traveling last week, I strategically packed only two projects to work on in hopes that I would come home with as many FOs. Despite encountering a lot  of delays in my air travel, my plan didn't quite work out as I thought it would, although the Wedge Socks are now at HO status! The lighting in the photo above doesn't really do justice to the colorway, so here is a close-up shot which is a little more true to color: My Chill Chaser is much closer to being done; I finished knitting the sleeves and just need to attach them to the sweater - but first, I want to finish knitting the hood: Last but not least, my Chittery Chattery socks are knitting up nice and quick, especially considering the fact that I've had very little time to work on them! In other news, Craftsy is offering some great deals on project kits which are only available by clicking on my affiliate links below. I thought I'd share them for anyone who is looking for simple &...

FO Friday: Sweater & Owl Hats + Craftsy Flash Sale

It's done, it's done, it's DONE! On Monday night, my yarn order arrived and I set to work finishing up the final bits of my Rocky Coast Cardigan . By the end of Tuesday night, all of the ends were woven in (and there were many!) and it was time to block in some lavender Eucalan ! All in all, it was totally worth reknitting the sleeves and purchasing one more skein of yarn at the 11th hour. It's the perfect cardigan and I'm so excited that I finished it with plenty of time to enjoy it before warm weather arrives, though I think I will add some sort of closure at the top. I also finished a few more owl hats, which were made in the interim before Malabrigo March began. From R-L: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in Douglas Fir & Growth; The Fibre Company Organik in Algae and Claystone, and  Malabrigo Worsted  in Pigeon and  Knit Picks   Andean Silk (which is apparently discontinued) in Imperial. Deal alert!   I'm excited to offer you an excl...

Malabrigo Sale Alert + FO Friday

Happy FO Friday! I finished my first project from Amigurumi On The Go, which I bought recently via Craftsy Deals . This is the Cat Roundie Bag , which I modified a bit, mostly because I didn't want to sew on pieces of felt. Instead, I decided to crochet as many features as possible and embroider the rest. Below is what I did if you decide you'd like to do the same! The main yarn used is a lovely space-dyed purple from Manos Del Uruguay (just in time for their Fair Trade February celebration!); the contrasting colors are all bits and bobs from my amigurumi stash. This was a very quick project to make, though I highly recommend blocking the finished pieces (especially the round bag pieces) so that they lay nice and flat. Modifications - To Make Cat Features Cat Muzzle: Work first 6 rnds of bag front instructions in contrasting color. Fasten off. Cat Triangles (worked flat - make 5): Ch 2. Row 1: SC 3 sts into second stitch from hook. Row 2: CH 1, SC 3 sts. Row 3...

Darnathon Update + Craftsy Sale!

Today's FO Friday will be a little different, since I technically don't have any FO's to show off! I do, however, have a newly-restored Featherweight Cardigan . I knit this sweater all the way back in 2009 (it doesn't seem like it was that long ago!) and in the last year or so, noticed a few small holes in the sweater sleeves. I set it aside for repairs, and, well.... you know what happened ! Meanwhile, I plan on avoiding the insanity of Black Friday like the plague today. I'm sure I'm not the only on who rather be knitting! I'm more of a Cyber Monday person myself, as I prefer to do nearly all of my shopping (no matter what day it is) from the comfort of my own home while wearing pajamas. Fellow pajama shoppers, you are in luck! From 11/23-11/26, Craftsy is running its Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sale and all classes are being offered at $19.99 or less! I have to say, I'm a serial class-taker at Craftsy . Just this year alone, I have expanded my...

Deal Alert: Craftsy's Endless Summer Sale!

Just announced:  Craftsy's Endless Summer Sale ! All weekend long (and ends at midnight on Monday, September 17), all online courses are only $19.99 (or less!). If you haven't taken a Craftsy course yet, it's a great time to give them a try; the average course costs between $30-$50. I admit, I'm kind of a serial Craftsy-course taker.  I learned to crochet via Vickie Howell's Crochet Lab ; Gwen Bortner taught me to Entrelac . I've signed up for Stacey Trock's Amigurumi Woodland Animals , Carol Feller's Celtic Cables , and Felicia Lo's Spinning Dyed Fibers , too. I even signed up for this workshop to make my own lip balms and body butters (I still haven't given a shot to date, but it'll happen...eventually). I hope you find something fun to broaden your crafting horizons this fall. Let me know what class you decide to sign up for!
