On Sunday night (while watching the Royals home opener, for anyone keeping track), I finished the Calm Cowl, which meant that I had only one (active) project left on the needles: Tyler's #BeRoyal socks, which I started last week. Since my last post, I've gotten through the cuff and colorwork crown at the top (for the Game 5 win of the World Series) and have started working backwards through the postseason with a stripe to signify a win or loss for home or away. Four colors on two-at-a-time socks....what was I thinking?! Despite having to spend a lot of time untangling things periodically, they still seem to be moving along at a nice clip:
On Monday night, I felt like starting a new project, and thought a simple hat would be a nice foil to all of the yarn juggling for the socks. I wound off this beautiful skein of MCN DK from Ancient Arts (the colorway is called French Bordeaux) and found a free pattern on Ravelry, Violet Waffles....which I keep reading as Violent Waffles, because obviously breakfast food attacks are a thing. Ahem. Anyway, I'm knitting the bring with my Marblz DPNs and then I'll probably switch to some interchangeable circulars when it's time to go up to US6 needles.
I have two more projects that I want to get on the needles this week, and last night I wound off yarn for both: the first is a top secret project in some handspun natural brown dorper yarn, and then I want to get a travel-friendly sock going with this lightsaber green BFL sock from my March Fiberista club shipment (I think you can figure out what's what in the photo below!),
The end goal, of course, is that I can fast track these projects so I can get to starting new ones with my H+H and YarnCon pretties in the not-so-distant future. Eyes on the prize!

Those Royals socks are such a cool idea!
