YarnCon is absolutely my favorite yarn/fiber show in the Chicagoland area, and this past weekend didn't disappoint. This year I was a full-on vendor, presiding over the Bijou Basin Ranch booth while the owners, Carl and Eileen, each had their own BBR booth at DFW in Texas and YarnFest in Colorado, respectively. Thankfully, I had help in the form of Lindy from Balwen Woodworks, who was sharing the space and handled most of the behind-the-scenes logistics.
It was a great two days, and I especially enjoyed meeting people who made a point to stop by to say they followed me on Instagram and/or read my blog. It's always a surprise to me for some reason, I guess I think that once I write a post or publish a photo, it just goes out in the ether and no one bothers to look at it? Anyway, it was nice to meet some of you in person and talk about how much we love yarn. That's always a good conversation to have.
Though I didn't stick to my "no buying yarn" rule, I think I managed not to go too wild while shopping the show floor. Here's what came home with me:
Back Row: Leading Men Fiber Arts 100% Organic Polwarth Wool in Wild Goose Chase & Moonlight.
Middle Row: Happy Go Lucky Sock in Lord Lemongrab, Bunny Badger Le Smoosh SW in Robin's Egg, fun #NeedleSquad buttons from Happy Go Lucky.
Front Row: 3 Striped Batts in Mica from Essential Fiber & a large bottle of Allure Fiber Wash in Prairie Breeze.
Honestly, I felt the need to hold back a bit since I am going to Ply Away in Kansas City later this month, and I know that several of the YarnCon vendors will be there to tempt me, too. And, of course, there was the H+H yarn blowout from last month to keep me (somewhat) in check....
I didn't end up taking a lot of photos during the event, but I did manage to almost fit the entire show floor in frame on this photo:
And I did take a photo of the line before the doors opened on Saturday morning - you know, when it was snowing diagonally and being generally blustery:
If you don't follow me on instagram, there are a few more photos from the event you can check out here.
I am already counting down the days til YarnCon 2017!
